Investigations are being carried out into possible match fixing at the French Open, according to reports.

German publication Die Welt claim it relates to a doubles match between Yana Sizikova and Madison Brugle and Romanian pair Andreea Mitu and Patricia Maria Tig.

The report claims that police are investigating and that it could be part of a wider ‘organised gang fraud’.

Tennis World USA claim that unusual bets during the second set have triggered an investigation.

Specifically that of the fifth game when Sizikova’s serve was broken.

It is alleged that ‘hundreds of thousands of euros’ were bet that she would double fault on two occasions, which she did.

I was told by several sources that many bookmakers issued alerts for abnormal betting in Sizikova/Brengle match at Roland Garros, Set 2 Game 5, Sizikova on serve to get broken. Prosecutors have said they are looking into alleged ‘fraud in an organised group’ and ‘active and passive corruption in sport’.

L’Equipe have also reported that large sums of money were bet on the Romanians winning the game.

Russian Sizikova and her American partner Brengle went on to lose the match in straight sets.
