Dereck Chisora has stated that he believes Tyson Fury is the pound-for-pound best fighter in boxing today.

The 36-year-old heavyweight was beaten by the ‘Gypsy King’ twice in 2011 and 2014, with these experiences seemingly leaving a lasting impression.

Despite most in the sport naming either Oleksandr Usyk, Terence Crawford, Canelo Alvarez or Naoya Inoue as their pound-for-pound king, Chisora thinks differently.

“I have to go with Tyson Fury, man,” he told JD Sports prior to the Deontay Wilder rematch.

“Because when he was on his form and before he got slapped off the rails, I think he’d become the pound-for-pound straight away, if there were no mess-ups.”

Following this claim from Chisora, Fury went on to knock out Deontay Wilder and become heavyweight champion of the world again.

The ‘Gypsy King’s’ next fight is now being planned for a homecoming title defence on December 5 in London, with no opponent confirmed as yet.

Chisora meanwhile is due to face Usyk on Saturday night in London.
