One attempt, one goal. This international football lark is a piece of cake for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
But it wasn’t just Calvert-Lewin who made the most of his opportunity for England as they made light work of Wales with a 3-0 win in a friendly at Wembley.
Calvert-Lewin has made an immediate impact for EnglandAFP or licensorsCalvert-Lewin got things going for the Three Lions though, the Everton striker earned his first senior England call-up following an excellent start to the season, scoring NINE goals for the Toffees already this term.
The 23-year-old was handed a first start and repaid the faith shown in him after 26 minutes.
It was one of the easier goals of Calvert-Lewin’s budding career, a downward header from less than six yards out after the excellent Jack Grealish, who was making his first England start, found his teammate with a cross on the right.
There will be an inquest among the Welsh defenders as to why the man-of-the-moment was left unmarked so close to goal but Calvert-Lewin won’t care about that one bit. Below you can see the goal that he’ll never ever forget.

What makes Calvert-Lewin’s goal even better is the fact it was with his first ever attempt on goal, according to Squawka.
Earlier, he latched onto an incisive Danny Ings pass and took it round Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey but Calvert-Lewin’s ball across failed to go towards goal or find any of his teammates in the middle, so doesn’t go down as a shot on goal.
The opener was somewhat against the run of play with Ryan Giggs’ men stringing together some promising attacks but Wales failed to create any chances of note.
But the second half was all England and the contest was all over by the 62nd minute thanks to goals from Conor Coady and Danny Ings.
Ings and Coady, both England novices, acquitted themselves well tooAFP or licensorsCoady, making his second England start, fired into the roof of the net on the half volley as captain for the night Kieran Trippier put the ball in a dangerous area with a teasing free-kick.
Meanwhile, Ings made it 3-0 with a stunning overhead kick as he was first to react to a combination of Tyrone Mings and Michael Keane’s header back across goal.

But Ings has known where the goal is his whole careerAFP or licensorsBukayo Saka was also given a full debut and he almost got on the scoresheet later on but his deflected effort was excellently saved by Hennessey.
The stakes are higher for England’s clashes against Belgium and Denmark respectively, but with Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell and Jadon Sancho letting themselves down last weekend, this professional display from those who did play has given the boss plenty to think about for the Nations League double header and beyond.
