‘F*** you’ – Conor McGregor involved in Twitter feud with ex-UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum

Conor McGregor and Fabricio Werdum got into a furious exchange on Twitter while talking about performance enhancing drugs.

‘The Notorious’ is technically still in retirement, but it appears as though even the former UFC heavyweight champion is not safe from his ire.

Conor McGregor has bulked up, but perhaps not enough to fight at heavyweight@notoriousmma

At the start of the week, McGregor expressed his disbelief on social media that Bellator had yet to adopt a stringent anti-drug testing policy protocol like the UFC’s agreement with the United States Anti-Doping Agency.

The Irishman was seemingly irked by compatriot Sinead Kavanagh’s photo outlining the lack of testing at Bellator.

“It is long overdue time the promotion adopts a reputable testing body in order to keep its clean athletes safe!” McGregor said in defence of his Straight Blast Gym teammate.

Despite taking more than 48 hours to decide to reply, Werdum finally took his chance to express his outrage at the Irishman.

Losers always will try to find excuses. Champions work very hard and don’t distracted by ants. @CyborgsGloves Is a living legend McGregor is filha-da-puta HEY https://t.co/2duYMLwu5m

McGregor swiftly retorted to the potential next Bellator signing by maintaining he had not referenced Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino, who is also part of Paradigm Sports management – just like Cyborg.

Actually wait! Aren’t you currently banned for steroids right now?
And got your sentenced reduced for ratting other people? And also just recently signed to this promotion I speak of? Woah.
Man, fuck you.
My lord, what a business this is.

The Brazilian was handed a two-year suspension after failing an out-of-competition test for trenbolone, an anabolic steroid. He publicly stated that USADA requested he ‘snitch’, but he would never do so, only for USADA to eventually reduce his sentence due to information provided.

Werdum declined the opportunity to re-sign with the UFC, despite defeating Alexander Gustafsson on Fight Island this summer, leading to speculation he would sign with Bellator.

However, the 43-year-old appears to have gotten his information incorrect, as Kavanagh and Cyborg have never actually fought professionally.

They never fought.
I train Sinead. I manage Cris.
Both tremendously gifted warriors.
This is not about either! Or any of the roster for that matter.
It is about the promotion itself stepping up to the plate, as one of the top tier organisations in MMA, and upping its testing.

It is worth noting the Brazilian is managed by Ali Abdelaziz, who also looks after Khabib Nurmagomedov, and has an issue with McGregor after allegations about links to terrorism and his son before UFC 229.

Abdelaziz has been known to control the Twitter accounts of his fighters, so it is unclear if it was former UFC champion Werdum arguing with McGregor in the early hours of Saturday morning.
