Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane delivered a truly scathing attack on Manchester United following their uninspiring 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.
To say this is Keane’s most damning assessment of the Red Devils yet gives you some idea of the severity – because, let’s be honest, there have been a few.
But watching United give such a weak display in a fixture which meant so much during his playing career officially tipped him over the edge.
It was a day to forget for Man UnitedGetty Images - GettyAfter ripping into Harry Maguire and David de Gea earlier this year, Keane took aim at the entire United squad in a furious rant.
“Where do you want me to start?” he said. “We spoke before the game about being on the front-foot, being aggressive and showing quality… but where was it? Where was the quality?
“You’re playing for Man United because you’re expected to break these teams down, you’re expected to run back, you’re expected to roll your sleeves up. That’s what playing for Man United is about.
Keane was at his angry best“We spoke about Nobby Stiles before the game, 5ft 6ins, heart of a lion.
“I don’t see it out there, I don’t see men out there, I don’t see men you want to be in the trenches with, guys you trust.
“I look at Ole in management, you have to trust your players on the pitch. If they trust those lads out there, God help us.”
Paul Pogba’s rash challenge, which led to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty, was the decisive moment in a match which Arsenal deserved to win.
But Keane refused to single out the Frenchman, insisting the problem ran through the whole team.
The former midfielder added: “Ole will lose his job working with these players – that’s what is going to happen.”
