Harry Redknapp has reiterated his belief that Tottenham are ‘very capable’ of winning this season’s Premier League.
The former Spurs boss has been impressed with the way Jose Mourinho’s side have started the 2020/21 campaign, with Monday’s night’s 1-0 victory at Burnley leaving them just two points behind the leaders Everton.
Redknapp is confident his former side will be challenging at the topAFP or licensors“I look at that squad and it’s a very strong squad. He’s got internationals covering every position,” Redknapp said on talkSPORT Breakfast.
“It’s a squad that I believe is very capable of challenging for the title. I still would make Liverpool and Man City favourites, but I think Tottenham have got every chance.
“It’s wide open this year. It’s so tight. I watched Liverpool vs Sheffield United at the weekend and that could have gone either way.
“Sheffield United were pressing for an equaliser and were very unlucky not to get one. Tottenham look very strong at the moment.”
Meanwhile, Redknapp has warned Dele Alli that he’s got to be ‘careful’ or risks seeing his career petering out altogether.
Mourinho’s latest snub to Alli saw the playmaker omitted all together from the squad which travelled to Turf Moor.
Alli’s Tottenham career is in danger of coming to an endGetty Images“I’m such a big fan of Alli. He’s a great talent, so it’s sad to see [what is happening],” Redknapp said.
“He’s got to be careful. He’s maybe a bit of a crossroads [in his career] at the moment. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
“Jose sees him every day and there’s obviously something he doesn’t like and that’s why he’s not picked him and dropped him out of the squad.
“Dele Alli needs to get back to the player we know he can be. He needs to get his head down and concentrate on his football.
“When he’s playing well, he’s a fantastic player.”
