Lennox Lewis admits ‘there is unfinished business’ after watching Mike Tyson battle to a draw with Roy Jones Jr and suggests Riddick Bowe fight

Lennox Lewis has admitted he could be tempted to return to the ring after watching Mike Tyson battle Roy Jones Jr to a draw.

The youngest world heavyweight champion in history looked exceptional for a 54-year-old during the exhibition bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

While many wondered if either man still had much to offer, Tyson proved age was just a number as he put his rigorous training regime to good use.

Speaking before the bout, former undisputed world champion Lewis admitted seeing his former rival back in action may have rekindled his desire.

“Sure! I mean, it seems like a lot of fun,” he told BT Sport.

“You have to look at Mike Tyson; Mike has been doing a lot of different things like wrestling, he’s been doing acting and he even had his own one-man band show.

“So he knows how to entertain people, he knows what to do in these situations.”

Lewis knocked Tyson out when they met in Memphis in 2002 and retired soon after his epic battle with Vitali Klitschko a year later. In a career which started at the Olympics in 1988, the Brit did it all.

However, en route to collecting Gold in Seoul, he knocked out Riddick Bowe and it seemed the two would meet again in the paid ranks.

But the fight never happened, with the 55-year-old opening the door to a potential exhibition bout.

“When I was commentating for HBO, they had me put in there right in the action,” he added.

“It was maybe to make me feel like I could come back for HBO whatever. But I just never caught it, it never happened.

“I looked at the history of why boxers come back and most boxers come back because they have nothing else to do.

“People keep coming up to them and saying to them, ‘Hey, when is your next fight? Who are you going to fight?’

“But it doesn’t do better for them, it makes them look bad. So I always elected to stay away from that.

“But, if it is right, I may come back. There’s been talk of Riddick Bowe wants to fight me still so there is still some unfinished business there.”
