talkSPORT host Adrian Durham was left stunned as a section of Millwall fans BOOED their own players for taking the knee in their first game back at The Den since February.
Millwall supporters were back for the first time in TEN MONTHS on Saturday afternoon, as 2,000 lucky fans took their seats to watch their Championship clash against Derby County.
The Lions faithful gave their team a raucous reception as they emerged from the tunnel, with Durham reflecting on a jubilant atmosphere as he watched the game live for talkSPORT.
But that atmosphere took a sour turn moments later, as a section of the 2,000 supporters then booed when players took the knee before kick-off.
And Durham was shocked and saddened by the reaction from the returning fans.
“It’s customary now up and down the land that respect is paid, the players take the knee… and there’s an adverse reaction from the Millwall fans – wow.
Audible boos rang around The Den“That is not good at all, questions will be asked about that for sure, that is a SHOCKER.
“It had all been going so well!
“I can’t really believe what I’ve just heard. it was lla joy, it was all love, it was all laughter, everybody was happy, fans are back in at the new den to support their team and then the players take the knee and there’s booing all round from the 2,000.
“I can’t believe it! It’s taken the wind out of my sails a little bit.
“I just wonder what someone like Mahlon Romeo, who is playing at right-back for Millwall today, I wonder what he felt when he heard that noise when he took the knee?
“The whole thing is unacceptable.”

Fans are back at The Den todayGetty Images - GettyWhile it may have come as a shock to Adrian, though, it was a reaction the club apparently expected.
Millwall released a statement earlier this week to confirm they will keep taking the knee in the fight against racism, despite fears they will be booed by their own supporters.
Many Lions fans want their club to join the other English Football League teams that have already abandoned the pre-match protest, with concerns about the alleged political motives of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Gary Rowett has backed Millwall’s decision to keep taking the knee, despite opposition from fansGetty Images - GettyBut manager Gary Rowett and his players released a statement, which read: “We are fully supportive of the efforts in ridding the sport, and society, of all forms of discrimination.
“It is our duty to reinforce the positive messaging.
“Taking the knee, for us, is in no way representative of any agreement with political messaging or ideology.
“It is purely about tackling discrimination.”
