Liverpool could be without NINE players, Leicester missing ENTIRE back five – the makeshift XIs we could see at Anfield due to injury crisis

We could see some rather unusual starting line-ups from Jurgen Klopp and Brendan Rodgers today.

Indeed, Liverpool and Leicester may barely be able to fill their benches at Anfield due to an absurd amount of absentees.

The champions host the league-leaders in what should be a fascinating match, but it’ll be largely makeshift line-ups for both sides – particularly in defence.

Both sides could be without almost all of their first-choice back-fours – and for the Reds, the problems don’t stop there.

It was an international break from hell for Jurgen Klopp, who almost predicted it by hitting out at the fixture schedule before the players went away.

So assuming they don’t have to call upon Jimmy from down the road, here’s how the two sides might line up on Sunday…

How Liverpool should line up

First it was Virgil van Dijk, and since then Fabinho, Thiago, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all been sidelined.

To make matters even worse, Mohamed Salah tested positive for COVID-19 again, ruling him out of Sunday’s match.

With Neco Williams, Rhys Williams and skipper Jordan Henderson also potential doubts after the international break, it’s not the best time to welcome early pace-setters Leicester to Anfield.

Nonetheless, such is the depth of the Premier League champions’ squad, they can still field a pretty tasty XI…

How Leicester should line up

The Foxes aren’t in great shape either.

They could well be missing arguably their entire first-choice back five – Kasper Schmeichel, Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu, Wesley Fofana and Timothy Castagne – and with Liverpool’s own well-documented defensive absentees, it could be goals galore.

Pereira, Fofana and Castagne have been pictured training, giving Leicester hope, while Wilfried Ndidi could also return for the clash.

Their attack remained unscathed during the international break, and the likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison will fancy themselves against a makeshift Liverpool defence.

Goalkeeper Danny Ward could also make his Premier League debut… more than two YEARS after joining Leicester in the summer of 2018.
