Liverpool suffer another huge setback as Fabinho is forced off with hamstring injury

Liverpool’s issues in defence are developing into crisis with yet another player joining the treatment table.

Virgil van Dijk is likely to be out for the rest of the season after sustaining an ACL injury during the Reds’ draw at Everton earlier this month.

Now Fabinho’s injured and Jordan Henderson’s reaction says it all

With Joel Matip also injured, Fabinho has been filling in at centre-back alongside Joe Gomez for the last three matches.

But now Van Dijk’s replacement is out as he pulled up with a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s Champions League clash at home to FC Midtjylland.

Fabinho promptly went down on the pitch clutching his hamstring on the half hour mark.

The Reds medic went onto the pitch to quiz Fabinho on the problem and the decision was taken to withdraw the Brazilian from the pitch immediately.

The absence of Van Dijk and Matip meant Jurgen Klopp had no choice but to bring 19-year-old Rhys Williams to partner Gomez.

Liverpool haven’t had things going for them at all against the Danish minnows with the game goalless at half time.

But what will be more worrying for them is the fact that they only have one fit senior player who can play at centre-back among their ranks.
