Liverpool team: Diogo Jota starts ahead of Roberto Firmino while Rhys Williams makes full Champions League debut

Diogo Jota has been rewarded for his fine form with a starting spot in Liverpool’s Champions League clash at Atalanta on Tuesday night, LIVE on talkSPORT.

The forward, who’s scored three goals in the Reds’ last three matches, muscles his way into the front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Roberto Firmino drops to the bench.

Meanwhile, Rhys Williams makes his full Champions League debut as he partners Joe Gomez at centre-back. Williams has featured in both of Liverpool’s group matches but started as a substitute against Ajax and Midtjylland.

The 19-year-old has been given the nod by Jurgen Klopp despite the fact Joel Matip has returned to the squad following an injury. Stand-in defender Fabinho is still out while Virgil van Dijk is a long-term absentee.

Meanwhile, star of the win over West Ham at the weekend Nat Phillips isn’t in Liverpool‘s European squad.

There’s also a starting spot for Curtis Jones, who plays in midfield alongside Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum.
