Man City, Raheem Sterling and Aymeric Laporte pay tribute to former academy star Jeremy Wisten, 17, after tragic death

Man City have paid tribute to their former academy star Jeremy Wisten following his tragic death.

The 17-year-old defender joined City in 2016 and featured for their Elite Development squads before leaving the club.

Wisten was hugely popular with his former City teammatesInstagram

In a brief statement, City said: “The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of former Academy player Jeremy Wisten.

“We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.”

City defender Aymeric Laporte tweeted: “Horrible news… RIP young man.”

Meanwhile, former City winger Trevor Sinclair said: “RIP Jeremy Wisten.

Wisten’s former City teammates Cole Palmer wrote on Instagram: “You Will Be Forever Missed. Fly High My Brother. Rest In Paradise!”

City youngsters Dommy Doyle and Liam Delap replied to the post with heart emojis.

The cause of Wisten’s death remains unknown at the moment.
