Mike Tyson believed he beat Roy Jones Jr, but there was no anger in his voice when told it was ruled a draw.
This was a different man from 25 years ago, who may have had something to say to the if the WBC’s unofficial judges – Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza and Chad Dawson – had dared take away a victory from him.
The fight was ruled a draw by the unofficial WBC judgesIn Los Angles, though, all that mattered was that people were entertained and money was being raised for a good cause.
“I’m good with [a draw],” he told Jim Gray afterwards.
Asked why, considering he felt he had done enough to beat his fellow legend, he said: “Because the crowd was happy with it.”
For his own part, Tyson was guaranteed $1m from his night’s work and said it would all be going to charity.
Jones Jr, meanwhile, didn’t take the result quite so well and revealed the extent of the punishment Tyson can dish out. “Hell no, I’m never satisfied with a draw.

“I don’t like draws, but the dude is so strong. I understand why some things are on a bucket list because when he hits you – whether his head, punches, body shots – it doesn’t matter because everything hurts.
“For me, I thought I did enough boxing on the outside to get the job done, but I’m cool with a draw and maybe we’ll have to do it again.”
Tyson said he is more than willing to compete again and insisted Jones would be on any card put together.
And as the two-time former heavyweight champion made his way back to his changing room inside LA’s Staples Center, Jones Jr revealed he was wearing gloves to honour the late Kobe Bryant, who spent many years in the venue wowing fans in Lakers’ colours.
Jones revealed his gloves were picked to honour Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash earlier this year
