The Ukrainian is regarded as one of the best around and is looking to set up a title fight with either Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury in the near future.

First up, he must put on a show against Chisora this weekend.

‘Del Boy’ has enjoyed a resurgence since losing to Dillian Whyte in December 2018 and beat David Price last time out.

He should provide a good test for Usyk but ‘The Cat’ must put on a show if he is to be taken seriously at heavyweight.

Usyk v Chisora: What has been said?

David Haye has warned Oleksandr Usyk he will be fighting the very best possible version of Derek Chisora.

“He’s as good as he has ever been before,” Haye told talkSPORT. “He’s been working with myself for two years now since his Dillian Whyte loss, which was a fight he was winning.

“He got knocked out in the 11th round but, since that fight, he has fought Senad Gashi, he’s fought Artur Szpilka, he’s fought David Price and he has performed better and better.

“He’s had full training camps for all of those fights and within those training camps he has done more and more training, culminating in a yearlong gap since his last fight in October 2019.

“He’s had a year to work on this specific fight to fight arguably one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet in any weight division.

“Any expert would have Usyk in their top five, pound-for-pound of all boxers and Derek needs to be having a perfect training camp. Anything less, he hasn’t got a shot.

“Any other training camp he has had coming in to this fight would not have been enough; he would not have been fit enough, he wouldn’t have been fast enough, he wouldn’t have had the right mindset – physically or mentally, no doubt.

“So I’m so happy that he has given himself to the team, to the training programme, fully. He hasn’t held anything back.

“In the past, he kind of held back 15 or 20 per cent of his energy and he always conserved a little bit for ‘tomorrow’. But now I know he has given everything to us.

“So we are going to go into the ring on Saturday night with him fully charged, fully fired up and motivated.

“He is going to be as good as Derek Chisora can possibly be and he is going to need to be because he has an excellent opponent in front of him.”
