European football can’t come back quick enough for Manchester United as they face Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League – live on talkSPORT 2.

The Red Devils are in sparkling form in continental competition but are bang average at best in the Premier League leading to pressure being piled on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

They may have rocked Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig but Chelsea and Arsenal proved tougher nuts to crack and, in addition to early losses to Crystal Palace and Tottenham, now they find themselves 15th in the domestic table.

Up next are a Turkish side with a number of ex-Premier League stars ready to make Solskjaer’s life even harder.

Istanbul Basaksehir might have lost their opening two games in the Champions League, but former Liverpool ace Martin Skrtel will be keen to claim victory.

Meanwhile, former Old Trafford full-back Rafael could come back to haunt his old club five years after leaving for Lyon.

Having beaten PSG and Leipzig, and with their poor league form, Solskjaer could well take the opportunity to rest some players for a now vital clash with Everton on Saturday – which you can also hear on talkSPORT.

It means fringe stars like Daniel James could get another chance, while Bruno Fernandes has a much needed quiet evening given his exertions since joining the club in January.

It’s believed Dean Henderson will replace David De Gea in goal for the match too.

Early Manchester United team news

Alex Telles is set to be out again as he waits to test negative for coronavirus and then return to full fitness.

His rival at left-back, Luke Shaw, has played in all but two of their 10 games this season and could well be rested with Brandon Williams coming into the side.
Elsewhere, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard are both still absent, although the latter is close to coming back, while Eric Bailly is another player still on the sideline with a muscle strain.

Axel Tuanzebe came off the bench against RB Leipzig and could get a start on Wednesday just as Edinson Cavani will be hoping for his first start.

There may also be some rotation with Donny Van de Beek getting another chance, along with Daniel James, as Solskjaer attempts to keep his squad fresh.

Anthony Martial should start having been suspended in the Premier League but Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba may be moved onto the bench.
