Romelu Lukaku gets assist and makes goal line clearance inside a minute in Belgium’s Nations League win over England

Romelu Lukaku is banging in the goals for Inter Milan and Belgium but the striker showed how useful at both ends of the pitch he is.

England suffered at the hands of the former Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton man’s brilliance, with Belgium beating the Three Lions 2-0.

The Red Devils took the lead with ten minutes played as Youri Tielemans’ deflected strike went in-off the post, Lukaku providing the assist for the Leicester man.

But more impressively, Lukaku denied England a certain equaliser just a minute later as he made a heroic goal line clearance.

The Three Lions responded well as Jack Grealish’s goalbound effort was blocked by Toby Alderweireld but came even closer from the resulting corner.

Kane rose brilliantly to head beyond Thibaut Courtois, but unfortunately for England, Lukaku was there to divert the ball away from goal. Below you can see how Lukaku managed to deny Kane his 33rd England goal.

England had joy going forward, with Kane going close just before half time and early in the second half while Grealish showed his class throughout.

Gareth Southgate’s men went two goals down with Dries Mertens scoring Belgium’s second with a delightful free-kick.

However, England can feel hard done by that the free-kick was awarded in the first place as Declan Rice appeared to win the ball when being penalised for fouling Kevin De Bruyne.
