Seth Rollins gets eliminated immediately from Survivor Series match and fans think it was to avoid working with Matt Riddle

WWE kicked off Survivor Series on Sunday with the traditional five-on-five matchup.

It was the men of RAW and SmackDown that collided in the opener with Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, Baron Corbin and Otis representing SmackDown against Sheamus, AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, Matt Riddle and Keith Lee representing RAW.

Rollins did not start the match, but after Kevin Owens had forced Riddle to tag out, Rollins finally requested to enter the fray.

The Messiah was then faced with Sheamus, but instead of facing the Celtic Warrior, Rollins kneeled down and invited Sheamus to put him away to the surprise of just about everyone.

Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick and scored the pin on Rollins making him the first man eliminated from the match.

From there, SmackDown would lose via a clean sweep with RAW suffering no casualties before Keith Lee put away Jey Uso to secure the win.

Interestingly, Rollins has been very open about problems he has with Riddle in the past and has previously said he has no intention to work with him.

Did his early elimination have anything to do with that? Or is it just a way to write him off as the due date of his child with Becky Lynch draws close?

Around the draft just last month, Rollins said: “I’ve got no interest in facing Matt Riddle at any point in my career so he can go to RAW as far as I’m concerned.”

The bad blood is said to stem from Riddle’s wife Lisa calling Becky ‘skinny, jiggly fat’ in an Instagram post. She also said she needs to squat in relation to pretty much nothing. That was a comment that was clearly not well received.

Two years earlier, Rollins had a very different opinion of the Original Bro.

“He’s someone who’s super talented, has an interesting skill set, a different style. I’m always intrigued by different styles, I feel like I can have a good match with anybody and I’d like to see how Riddle and I mesh together.”

Fans have naturally figured that Rollins did not want to be in the match with Riddle, although it’s unknown if that’s truly the case.
