Paul Ince still expects Manchester United to finish in the top six of the Premier League this season, despite a worrying start to the 2020/21 campaign.
The Red Devils suffered their third defeat in six matches by losing 1-0 to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday – and the performance deserved worse.
Man United were totally uninspired against ArsenalGetty Images - GettyUnited have taken just one point from their four home games so far this season, and their worst start in seven years leaves them 15th in the table.
But in Europe, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are flying ahead of tonight’s trip to Istanbul Basaksehir – live on talkSPORT 2.
Having been drawn into a seriously difficult group, United have already beaten Paris Saint-Germain and thrashed RB Leipzig to give them an excellent chance of qualification.
And former Red Devils and England midfielder Ince suggests that if United can carry that form into the league, they’ll sort their domestic season out eventually.
Paul Ince made over 200 appearances for UnitedGetty Images“I still think United finish in the top six this season,” Ince told Ladbrokes.
“It’s that inconsistency that’s the problem. You look at the way they played against PSG and you think they should absolutely be in the top four. “But you look at how they played against Arsenal and think they’d be lucky to finish in the top six.
“That’s the way it is at Manchester United at the minute.
“A lot of things aren’t clicking at this moment in time but there’s still a long way to go this season and I think United can expect to be right up there at the end of the campaign.”
