Frank Warren has told talkSPORT that Tyson Fury will face Agit Kabayel in his UK homecoming on December 5, so long as the German signs the contract.

The ‘Gypsy King’ last month moved on from plans for a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, stating that their contract enforcing the bout had expired.

He then announced he would instead make the first defence of his WBC heavyweight world title on December 5 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

And now his UK co-promoter Warren has told Jim White on talkSPORT: “Tyson’s fighting on December 5.

“We’re giving the guy we wanna fight, which is Kabayel, we’re giving him 24 hours now to sign the contract or we’re gonna move on.

“He’s undefeated and has a win on his record over Derek Chisora

“He [was] the European champion and he’s ranked by the WBC.

“That’s who’s sitting at the moment on a contract and we’re waiting.

“He’s got about 24 hours now to make his mind up to sign it and send it back or we’ll move on.

“He’s the fight, subject to the contract being signed.”

Kabayel is a German heavyweight whose career path has been somewhat baffling over the past few years.

In 2017, the 28-year-old beat Herve Hubeaux to win the vacant European heavyweight title and then defended it with an impressive points win over Chisora.

He also gained valuable experience sparring with Anthony Joshua.

In the three years since the Chisora win though, he’s only fought three times against journeymen and has been unable to put together any career momentum to progress from European level to challenging the world champions.

The man who outboxed Chisora in 2017 is a talented heavyweight to be reckoned with, but it’s unclear if he can translate that ability against the very best.
