PETALING JAYA: Westports Holdings Bhd’s Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd, has achieved a new container volume record by handling 23,183 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in a single vessel - the CMA CGM Antoine de Saint Exupery between Nov 4-6.

Westports deployed 9 ship-to-shore cranes to perform the feat on the 400-meter long vessel. Westports’ team worked around the clock and achieved extremely high overall vessel productivity levels by attaining 286 vessel gross moves per hour (VGMPH) in the 46 hours of operations, it stated in a Bursa filing.

“The achievement reflects the commitment and dedication of Westports’ staff in planning and carrying out the operations seamlessly for our clients. The terminal continues to play its role as the leading and pre-eminent port for the nation’s gateway trade and also as one of the main transhipment hubs in South East Asia for international container shipping alliances,” it said.
